Doug’s Take

If you’re in the market for a classic Land Rover, this 110 looks like a great one. It’s been overhauled by a respected company called East Coast Defender, and it features a LONG list of modifications. It notably boasts a 6.2-liter V8 that should significantly improve acceleration – and it touts modern convenience features such as air conditioning, heated front seats, USB ports, a touchscreen, and much more. It’s also left-hand drive, which is a HUGE benefit here – and the rear jump seats allow it to carry nine passengers in relative comfort. Plus, this 110 is offered with a U.S. title and a clean, accident-free Carfax report, for added peace of mind.

Highlights

THIS… is a 1987 Land Rover 110, finished in black with a black interior.

  • This is a left-hand drive, European-market SUV that’s titled in Illinois.
  • The attached Carfax history report starts in 2012 and contains some gaps, though it lists no accidents during the given time period.
  • This 110 was refurbished by Florida-based East Coast Defender, and its factory-fitted engine was replaced by a Chevrolet-sourced 6.2-liter LS3 V8 during the overhaul. The list of modifications reported by the seller also includes a Borla exhaust system, a 6-speed automatic transmission, Bilstein shocks and steering stabilizer, a galvanized frame, a tubular front bumper, a WARN Industries VR8 winch, LED exterior lighting, a rear-mounted ladder, leather upholstery, heated front seats, side-facing third-row bench seats, a MOMO steering wheel, air conditioning, a Sony touchscreen, Kenwood speakers, and a rear-view camera.
  • Land Rover introduced the four-door 110 and the two-door 90 in 1983 and 1984, respectively, to replace the long-running Series III. While both models looked a lot like their predecessors, they offered users a more up-to-date interior, a permanent four-wheel drive system, and a coil spring suspension system. The 110 and the 90 morphed into the original Defender in 1990, though the numerical designations remained to differentiate two- and four-door models, and production carried on with minor updates until 2016.
  • Power comes from a 6.2-liter V8, rated at 430 horsepower according to East Coast Defender. It spins the four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.
